Windows 7 and above offers an easy to use tool for capturing images of your screen, called the 'Snipping Tool'.
To get started with the snipping tool, carry out the following steps:
- Go to your "Start" menu.
- Choose "Accessories".
- Select "Snipping Tool".
Another way to locate the snipping tool is as follows:
- Go to your "Start" menu.
- Type "snipping" into the search field.
- Select "Snipping Tool".
You'll then be presented with the options below:
"New" offers:
- The "Free-form snip" will enable you to draw an irregular line around an object or area.
- The "Rectangular snip" will allow you to take a screenshot shaped as a rectangle by dragging the cursor around an object.
- "Window Snip" allows you to select a window, such as a browser window or a dialog box that you would like to capture.
- "Full-screen snip" enables you to capture the entire screen, similar to the earlier "Print Screen" feature.
- "Cancel" allows you to cancel the current action.
- "Options" allows you to customize the application to your preference.
Once you're satisfied with the final image:
- Click the "Save Snip" button.
- Select a location to save your document.
- Enter a file name.
- Choose the file type i.e. PNG, GIF, JPEG or HTML.
- Click "Save".
